The Haunted Crawford Road Bridge

Crawford Road is in Yorktown, Virginia. I first heard about the haunted bridge while shopping in Costco, I was looking in the book section while my husband looked at video games.  A book about Virginia caught my eye, it was all about ghosts and haunted places in Virginia, I flicked through the pages to see if there was anything local. Crawford Road Bridge had a page about it in the book, While I cant remember the book here is a link about the bridge and the goings on there, HERE.

I didnt really give Crawford Road a  second thought until I was out taking photographs in Yorktown during the snowy weather we had. My friend Ember and her Mom had volunteered to drive their car around in the icy snow and slush. We spent the afternoon driving in Poquoson and the surrounding area taking photographs. We ended up at the Yorktown Battlefields watching children and adults of all ages having fun sledging behind the battlefield visitor center. The sun was getting lower so we decided it was time to go home, but somehow it was decided that we would drive back along Crawford Road and under the Haunted Bridge.

The bridge is down a road surrounded by trees, the road is narrow and has no street lights, I was quite happy that the sun was still giving off some light. We drove down the road slowly, we had no choice with the icy roads, Crawford road is very pretty even with all the terrible stories that seem to be associated with it. Our experience was a quiet one, no ghosts jumping on the car roof, or phantam police cars…. (thankfully)
